At Hobb Computer Services Ltd we feel that it’s important to make our working environment as positive and productive as possible. We also look to extend that to the city and area that we work and live in. From championing local charities and organisations to supporting schools, we want to put back into the community. Our community.
As a company, we regularly monitor and plan the economic, social, and environmental impact of what we do, especially sustainability. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and helping charities and other organisations wherever and whenever we can is really important to us, and so it was fantastic to receive a lovely letter from Emily Webster at Re-form Heritage this week thanking us for our support of the fantastic Christmas activities that are taking place at Middleport Pottery from now and over the festive period.

Re-form Heritage are an independent charity which specialises in the restoration and rejuvenation of heritage buildings at risk of decay or demolition. Their objective is to transform these historic buildings into local assets, creating job opportunities and catalysing wider social and economic benefit.
The Potteries is an area very close to where we are based, and also close to our hearts. The iconic bottle kiln ovens of Stoke-on-Trent are still in evidence, although dotted around the city in far smaller numbers than when the Stoke-on-Trent pottery industry was such a huge player on the international stage. We are proud that our city is still world renowned for its ceramics and are proud to support Re-form Heritage, who own and manage the iconic Middleport Pottery which boasts a stunning bottle kiln in its midst.
Built by Burgess and Leigh in the late nineteenth century, Middleport Pottery is the home of Burleigh Pottery, is the oldest working pottery in the United Kingdom, and many will know it for being the stunning location for The Great Pottery Throwdown and an episode of Peaky Blinders. You may also remember the visually striking and emotional Poppies: Weeping Window, which saw Middleport Pottery as the last tour venue before its final presentation at the Imperial War Museum in London.

Re-form Heritage has worked to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Middleport Pottery site, which, in addition to the production of the Burleigh Pottery range, encompasses heritage and craft-based operations, including a visitor centre, café and other activities.
The festive period sees Middleport Pottery become even more magical, with its Christmas Festival event attracting large crowds. From meeting Santa to Artisan Markets, and from a photography exhibition to simply walking around the sumptuously decorated, atmospheric factory……it really is a special place, and one that is shining thanks to Re-Form Heritage.
Hobb Computer Services Ltd are delighted to be supporting such a brilliant, proactive initiative and organisation, one that is based on history and heritage and the past, but also has an impact on the local community in the now and in the present, too. We hope that you can visit and support them this Christmas, and throughout 2024.
