As you are probably aware, traditional Analogue and ISDN networks are currently in the process of being switched off in the UK with a target completion date of 2025. With the pending demise of the ‘phone line’ now official, your voice services ability to work will be wholly reliant upon your data connection. The future of telephony is already here – there is no need to wait until 2025 to benefit from the technology today.

The world changed in 2020 – and that applied to the way in which we work and communicate too. In the post-Covid19 world that we now live in, we need our staff to be productive and contactable wherever they choose to work.

 

Utilising Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams, Hobb Computer Services Ltd can streamline your company’s hybrid working with reliable and flexible Voice Solutions for your business. Using the interface that you already know and love for those chats and meetings; you can now make landline and mobile calls directly from Microsoft Teams on a network built for speed, resilience and security. All that is required is a bit of know how from us and the correct Microsoft licenses added to your Microsoft Tenancy.

 

With Microsoft Teams calling, you can use a wide range of supported devices including the familiar desktop phones, headsets, or even Apple/Android mobile phones.

Calls can be routed to one or all of your devices and if you need to get in the car, then live calls can easily be transferred between devices that you own.

 

Admins can quickly configure call routing and other settings via the already familiar Office 365 Admin Centre. Using the already familiar Teams interface, users can edit their own voicemail messages and settings allowing for ease of use and less support calls for admins. As the system is integrated into your Microsoft office account, the service even knows to put your Out of Office voicemail on when it detects your Outlook Out of Office has been enabled.

 

In Microsoft Teams, admins can configure built in spam filtering for inbound calls from the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). When Spam filtering is fully enabled, both Basic and Captcha Interactive Voice Response (IVR) checks are performed. In case the call is considered as spam, the user will get a “Spam Likely” warning notification in Teams. This list is dynamic and automatically updated by Microsoft and their partners.

 

the Operator Connect Service provides ‘SIP signalling’ as the method for Microsoft Teams tenants to interconnect with our partners VoIP network, supporting calls to/from the PSTN. The following types of calls supported across this interface include:

 

  • Voice calls to geographic numbers (01,02)
  • Voice calls to/from non-geographic, corporate or VoIP numbers (03, 05, 08)
  • Voice calls to premium numbers UK (09) and international
  • Voice calls to/from mobile destinations (07)
  • Voice calls to/from international destinations (00)
  • Operator, emergency and non-emergency calls (100, 101,111,112, 116xxx, 118, 123 1800x, 195, 999)

 

With an optional add on, the Dubber call recording service enables businesses of all sizes to improve customer service levels, as well as help them meet their legal and regulatory obligations for Microsoft Teams users, no matter their location; in a call centre, office environment or working from home.
